Dulux rolls out digital interactive unit MixLab in Homebase stores

AkzoNobel brand Dulux has completed the implementation for MixLab paint mixing units into Homebase’s 300+ stores in the UK.

At the heart of the MixLab unit is a touch-screen self-service application that offers an easy and intuitive on-screen journey that guides consumers through four easy steps to find the perfect paint for their job. Created by digital agency AnalogFolk London, the MixLab touch-screen application offers users a quick and easy way to find the perfect product for the job. Choosing from over 1200 colours, selecting the right function and finish, and finally getting the paint mixed, is made seamless, quick and easy with the digital application.

The unit brings to life the paint customisation experience for the consumer by allowing them to carry out a full shopping journey through the application. Users of MixLab can select the colour of their choice from the unit interface, or colour match an item using the built-in scanner device. MixLab then prompts the user to select the correct function they would like for the paint, such as whether it needs to be moisture resistant or hardwearing, before requesting the type of finish the consumer requires. At this stage the paint is then mixed and a receipt is printed for the consumer to pay with at the checkout.

During the Mixlab process, consumers are also provided with key information on product benefits, as well as useful details on other AzkoNoel products including Weathershield, Cuprinol and Hammerite offerings.
